IT Application Manager

About the Opportunity:

Our client, a top general contractor headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, is seeking an experienced IT Application Manager to take ownership of their enterprise applications and help drive strategic technology initiatives across the organization. This is a backfill for a long-standing team member retiring at year-end, and the company is looking for someone who not only brings technical acumen but thrives in a collaborative, people-focused culture.

This role is best suited for a hands-on leader with 7–10+ years of experience managing ERP systems and business-critical applications. The ideal candidate is both technically strong and highly communicative—someone who can translate complex ideas to non-technical teams, partner with leadership, and help drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary owner of the ERP system and related business software.
  • Develop strategies for the full application lifecycle, including upgrades, patches, migrations, and sunsetting legacy systems.
  • Identify opportunities for improving business outcomes through technology.
  • Lead the implementation and enhancement of ERP, cost management, and operational platforms.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and external vendors to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Support and roll out new technologies based on organizational needs.
  • Oversee integrations between platforms via APIs and middleware.
  • Ensure consistent, accurate data flow between enterprise applications.

Support, Troubleshooting & Maintenance

  • Provide end-to-end support for application users across teams.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, manage change controls, and test updates.

Data, Reporting & Analytics

  • Use data to support business reviews, decision-making, and performance insights.
  • Build dashboards, track KPIs, and provide analytical support across departments.

Stakeholder Communication & Culture Fit

  • Work closely with non-technical teams to solve problems and implement technology effectively.
  • Serve as a bridge between IT and business units—excellent communication is essential.
  • Support a collaborative, high-performance culture and lead with a team-first mindset.
  • Manage third-party vendor relationships, software licenses, and contract renewals.

What We’re Looking For:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 7–10 years of experience managing enterprise applications.
  • ERP experience is mandatory—preferably with CMiC (highly preferred), Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or Viewpoint Vista.
  • Strong understanding of both cloud-based and on-premise systems.
  • Hands-on experience with application integrations (REST/SOAP APIs).
  • Experience with project management and payroll platforms such as Autodesk Build and ADP.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical ideas to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical mindset and experience with reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, SQL, etc.).

Preferred:

  • Industry experience in construction, architecture, or manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with agile project methodologies.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices related to enterprise applications.
