The IT Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Northway Biotech's IT infrastructure and technology systems. This role provides technical support to employees while ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of business, laboratory, manufacturing, and facility-related computerized systems. The IT Engineer will serve as the primary on-site IT resource, will report to the Head of Maintenance and Engineering and work closely with Maintenance and Engineering group, Quality group, and external vendors to support a GMP-regulated biotech environment.
Position Responsibilities
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and peripherals.
- Provide technical support and training to end users on hardware, software, and IT systems.
- Maintain and administer Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and user access management.
- Manage and support servers, storage, virtualization platforms, backups, and cybersecurity measures.
- Maintain and administer local and wireless network infrastructure, internet connectivity, firewalls, and VPN access.
- Support computerized laboratory and manufacturing equipment, including associated software and network connectivity.
- Maintain and administer Building Management Systems (BMS), environmental monitoring systems, access control systems, CCTV/video surveillance, and other operational technology systems.
- Coordinate with equipment and software vendors for installation, maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
- Support data integrity, system security, disaster recovery, and business continuity initiatives.
- Participate in qualification, validation, change control, and compliance activities for computerized systems within a GMP-regulated environment.
- Maintain accurate IT documentation, inventories, procedures, and system records.
- Support implementation of new technologies and continuous improvement projects across the site.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 3+ years of experience in IT engineering, systems administration, or technical support.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365 administration.
- Experience with server administration, networking, cybersecurity, and virtualization platforms (VMware preferred).
- Knowledge of database systems and SQL.
- Experience supporting Building Management Systems (BMS), access control, CCTV, or other facility automation systems preferred.
- Familiarity with laboratory, manufacturing, or GMP-regulated environments is highly desirable.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industries.
- Knowledge of Linux operating systems.
- Understanding of GxP, data integrity, and computerized system validation principles.
