Job summary

Ohio Department of Public Safety in Columbus, OH is seeking an Information Technologist 2 to provide Tier II maintenance and documentation support for law enforcement IT systems. Under supervision, you will work with IT specialists to enhance infrastructure, software, and databases in line with standards.

You will troubleshoot with end users, inspect databases with Microsoft tools, and handle installation and configuration of desktop software and hardware.

Qualifications

• Completion of associate core program in computer science or information systems.
• 12 months combined work experience as specified by the agency position description & job posting.
• 18 months combined work experience in IT-related areas or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide Tier II maintenance and documentation support to IT users and specialists.
• Guide end users through troubleshooting procedures using diagnostic techniques.
• Use software tools to inspect databases and ensure standards compliance.

What You'll Do As An Information Technologist 2

• Under the direction of assigned supervisor within the Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS), Information Technology Office (ITO), provide Tier II maintenance & documentation support to Law Enforcement information system users &/or IT specialists & generate enhancements for existing infrastructure, software or database systems in compliance with specifications & standards.
• Perform analyses & guide end users through troubleshooting procedures using diagnostic techniques.
• Utilize software tools (i.e., Microsoft Tools) to inspect databases.
• Installation & configuration of desktop software & hardware.

Option 1

Completion of associate core program in computer science or information systems

AND 12 mos. combined work experience as specified by the agency position description & job posting.

Option 2

Or 18 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: computers and/or telecommunications software/hardware, applications, support products, projects or databases for small scale systems or programs or pieces of larger systems or programs including 12 mos. combined work experience as specified by the agency position description & job posting.

Or equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.
