Job Description/Duties:
BioFire Defense is seeking an experienced Information Systems Security Engineer II to join our IT team. Your general IT administrative duties will consist of assisting with the design, implementation, documentation and maintenance of business system infrastructure and applications. Primary administrative responsibilities are protecting the company IT infrastructure, applications, and data from cyber threats. This role involves monitoring, analyzing, and responding to security incidents, implementing protective measures, and ensuring compliance with industry and government standards.
You will work with departments throughout the company of various professional disciplines to support their technological and IT needs. Integral to the role will be an awareness of the latest IT solutions and to maintain existing infrastructure to comply with the industry’s best practice standards.

You will be involved as a key contributor to the IT team in managing and maintaining business system infrastructure and its overall security posture, as well as assisting in other critical IT related activities as directed by the IT management.
Skills/Education/Experience Requirements:
Qualifying candidates should have 7+ years of hands-on-experience and a working knowledge in multiple disciplines within the realm of IT with relevant work as an information systems and/or security administrator. Familiarity and/or experience with federal government security regulatory requirements along with their application and execution within the IT business system is a plus. Must have or obtain and maintain a DoD Personnel Security Clearance.
Formal education degrees are considered but are not required. Applicable industry certificates and years of real-world experience hold more value to the potential of the candidate. Certifications likeCompTIA,CEH, CISSP/CCSP, CISM/CISA, andGIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC)are a plus.
Soft skill expectations: Must have strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Must have the ability to document complex procedures with clarity and reproducibility. Must be resourceful and can problem-solve in an effective and efficient manner. Candidates must have a customer service-oriented mindset and the ability to work with colleagues of all levels of IT aptitude. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and requires a strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, security technologies and risk management practices.
Technical skill expectations: Familiarity with and/or industry relevant experience in the following areas: Cybersecurity, Windows and Linux Server OS, Virtualization, Networking, Storage, Backups, Software Management, Databases management, Azure and AWS cloud infrastructure, and M365 administration. An understanding of various cybersecurity concepts, including threat modeling, risk management and security protocols. Expertise in security tools and technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, antivirus software and encryption technologies. Experience with security controls on government information systems a plus.
