Job summary

Torch Technologies, Inc. seeks an Information System Security Officer to support cyber security operations for a DoD program in Lexington Park, MD. You will prepare eMASS artifacts, verify control compliance, and manage POA&M while coordinating with ISSEs and engineers to sustain ATO status.

Required is a DoD Secret clearance, a relevant degree or experience, and 2+ years in a similar role. Onsite work in Lexington Park MD with occasional travel; relocation assistance available.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship required.
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 2+ years of experience in an ISSO/ISSM or compliance-focused cybersecurity role in DoD or federal environments.
• Active DoD Secret clearance; working knowledge of RMF and NIST 800-53 controls.
• Hands-on experience preparing and submitting artifacts in eMASS.
• Experience managing POA&M, including tracking, coordinating remediation, and documenting closure of findings.
• Familiarity with vulnerability and compliance scanning tools (ACAS/Nessus, SCAP) and interpreting results against control requirements.
• DoD 8570/8140-compliant certification at IAM/IAT Level II or higher (e.g., Security+, CAP, CySA+).

Responsibilities

• Collect, prepare, and submit artifacts supporting eMASS ATO packages (SSPs, SCTMs, evidence).
• Verify system configurations against NIST 800-53; document gaps or non-conformance.
• Manage POA&M for assigned systems and coordinate remediation with owners/engineers.
• Coordinate with ISSEs, admins, and engineering teams to gather evidence and validate controls.
• Support continuous monitoring activities including control reviews and vulnerability analysis.
• Track authorization expiration dates and lead re-authorization efforts.
• Maintain audit-ready eMASS documentation for assigned systems.
• Review vulnerability and compliance scans and map findings to controls/POA&M.
• Support incident reporting per DoD and program policies.
• Communicate risk posture and compliance status to management and AOs.
