Job summary

Hach, a Veralto company, seeks an Information Developer II — Technical Writer for the Loveland, CO site. You will design, develop, format, and manage technical writing for labeling documents, manuals, testing procedures and user guides across hardware and software.

This on-site role partners with cross-functional teams to produce compliant, localized content in multiple languages. You will lead content strategy, maintain translation workflows with vendors, and ensure data integrity per ISO

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Technical Communication, science, technology or related field with 3 years of experience or at least 10 years in Technical Publication/Technical Communication.
  • Desktop publishing skills to create and manipulate new and existing documentation.
  • DITA — XML and content management systems.
  • Translation management systems.
  • Ability to maintain and adapt XSL-FO files is a plus.
  • Ability to illustrate complex technical concepts in easy-to-use illustrations is a plus.
  • Experience with Solid Works, CorelDesigner, Adobe Illustrator is a plus.
  • Ability to disassemble and reassemble instruments to create installation and maintenance information.

Responsibilities

  • Creates structured content to produce end-user installation, operation and maintenance manuals, user instructions, quickstart/quickreference guides, analytical procedures and online help. Applies reuse strategies and modular writing design to single-source content to our customers as different media (web, print).
  • Develops content that can be delivered globally and into 32 languages. Learns localization practices including Simplified Technical English rules, Global Visual Design Standards, and Localization Best Practices.
  • Manages complete translation process with external vendors from scope to delivering translated documents.
  • Obtains, defines, and interprets information with cross-functional, global product teams and customer feedback to develop end-user documentation packages.
  • Updates unstructured FrameMaker legacy documentation and converts to structured topics/maps.
  • Manages own daily work, project assignments and on-time delivery of output deliverables.
  • Prepares documentation for final production and proofs PDFs before/after printing.

Reporting to the Manager Technical Publications, the Information Developer II — Technical Writer is responsible for designing, developing, formatting, implementing and managing technical writing and content creation, to meet the demands for the production of labeling documents, manuals, testing procedures and operational specifications, including the creation and maintenance of documentation and illustration for hardware and software user’s guides, service and programming manuals and electronic media including on-line help. Manages revisions of technical documentation and delivery of global labeling and content. The function may include configuration and maintenance of content and translation management systems. Ensures integrity of data and document use, which may include customer data and quality and regulatory data following ISO standards to internal quality and production standards. This position is part of the Technical Publications department located in USA – Loveland and will be on-site.

  • Developscontentthatcan bedeliveredgloballyandinto32 languages. Has a generalunderstandingandcontinuedlearningofhowtodevelopinformationforlocalizationwhichincludesusingSimplifiedTechnicalEnglish rules andguidelines, Global VisualDesignStandardsandLocalizationBestPractices.

  • Managescompletetranslationprocesswithexternalvendorsfromscopingtodeliveringtranslateddocuments.

  • Obtains, defines, andinterpretsinformationandworksdirectlywithcross-functional, globalproductdevelopmentteams(ProductMgmt, ProjectMgmt, R&D, etc.) andcustomerfeedbacktoassistinthedevelopmentofend-userdocumentationpackages.Informationisobtainedbyproductknowledgetransfer, interviews,usabilitytesting,dailymanagementmeetingsand email/phonecommunication.

  • Recognizesanddemonstratesimprovementstothequalityofdocumentationbasedonfeedbackfrominternalandexternalcustomersbysolicitingfeedbackandtestingdocumentationforusability,accuracyandvalidity.

  • UpdatesunstructuredFrameMakerlegacydocumentationandconvertsunstructuredbookstostructuredtopicsandmaps.

  • Managesowndailywork,projectassignmentsandon-timedeliveryofoutputdeliverables.

The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An associate’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.

The compensation range for this role is $75,000 – $85,000 USD per year. This job is also eligible for Bonus Pay.
