A Brief Overview

The Informatics Trainer provides frontline application training, workflow coaching, personalization support, and end-user support to promote effective adoption and use of the organization’s electronic health record and assigned healthcare applications. This role delivers approved training content, reinforces standard workflows, supports user readiness, and assists users before, during, and after implementations, upgrades, optimization efforts, and workflow changes. The Informatics Trainer partners with EHR Application Principal Trainers, informatics analysts, operational leaders, super users, designated trainers, providers, and frontline staff to support consistent training delivery and effective application use. This position serves as a trusted frontline resource for users by helping improve proficiency, workflow adoption, and confidence using assigned systems. This role supports application training delivery and user readiness but does not own curriculum governance, enterprise learning strategy, LMS administration, onboarding, compliance education, leadership development, or non-application education programs.

What you will do
  • Deliver EHR application training and coaching: Deliver instructor-led, one-on-one, virtual, and small group application training and workflow coaching to end users using approved curriculum, materials, workflows, and training standards.
  • Support application personalization and efficiency sessions: Facilitate application personalization, user settings, preference setup, and efficiency sessions for new and existing users using approved standards and workflows.
  • Provide at-the-elbow application support: Provide at-the-elbow support during implementations, upgrades, optimization initiatives, workflow changes, and other major application events to reinforce effective use of assigned systems.
  • Deliver refresher and optimization training: Deliver post-go-live refresher training, optimization support, and skills enhancement sessions to improve user proficiency, workflow adoption, and effective system use.
  • Support super users, designated trainers, and end users: Serve as a frontline application training resource for super users, designated trainers, and end users by assisting with workflow and application questions and escalating unresolved issues to the appropriate team.
  • Identify workflow coaching and training opportunities: Observe clinical and operational workflows to identify application training needs, workflow coaching opportunities, knowledge gaps, and potential improvement opportunities for review with EHR Application Principal Trainers, informatics, operations, or application teams.
  • Support validation of training materials and workflows: Partner with EHR Application Principal Trainers and subject matter experts to review and validate lesson plans, training materials, workflow documentation, user-facing resources, and training exercises.
  • Test training readiness materials: Test training environments, user scenarios, lesson plans, exercises, and training materials prior to delivery. Report issues, inconsistencies, or gaps to the appropriate EHR Application Principal Trainer, informatics analyst, or technical team.
  • Document learner feedback and training gaps: Document learner feedback, user questions, knowledge gaps, workflow concerns, and training needs. Recommend updates to training materials, refresher sessions, support resources, or workflow coaching plans.
  • Maintain current application and workflow knowledge: Maintain current knowledge of assigned EHR applications, organizational workflows, role-based training materials, adult learning practices, workflow coaching techniques, and application training standards.
