Job summary

University of Chicago Information Security Administration is responsible for protecting institutional data and technology resources. The role administers security technologies, supports governance and compliance initiatives, and responds to security events to reduce organizational risk.

Working closely with IT leadership, system owners, and business stakeholders, the administrator helps ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data and systems across the university.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Administers, monitors, and maintains information security technologies (endpoint protection, vulnerability management, security monitoring, encryption, MFA, IAM).
  • Protects systems and applications handling sensitive data (HIPAA, PII, FERPA).
  • Implements and maintains IAM controls, RBAC, and least-privilege access practices.
  • Monitors security alerts, investigates threats, and coordinates remediation.
  • Performs security assessments, vulnerability reviews, and configuration audits.
  • Supports development and maintenance of information security policies and procedures.
  • Participates in risk assessments, control evaluations, and remediation planning.
