Job summary

Asahi Kasei Therapeutics is seeking a Medical Director, Infectious Diseases to lead the strategic medical vision for our growing infectious diseases portfolio, starting with HSV in immunocompromised patients. Qualifications

• MD or DO with Infectious Diseases specialization preferred; alternative doctoral degree considered with antiviral expertise.
• Minimum 8 years in pharma/biotech or 5+ years clinical/academic with industry collaboration.
• Infectious disease experience in antiviral therapy and immunocompromised populations is highly relevant.
• Ability to lead strategic initiatives and work cross-functionally in a matrixed environment.
• Strong ethics, presentation, and communication skills; travel up to 30%.

Responsibilities

• Lead the annual medical strategic plan with Medical Affairs and aligned with R&D and corporate goals.
• Drive medical evidence generation, including RWE and IIS, and input into development plans and lifecycle strategies.
• Build partnerships with KOLs, academic experts, providers, patient groups, and payers to inform strategy.
• Serve as medical advisor to cross-functional teams and as infectious diseases point of contact.
• Contribute to business development, venture activities, and integration of medical insights into opportunities.
• Lead publication strategy and ensure timely data dissemination for scientific and regulatory needs.
