Job summary

LSU New Orleans, operating through the OPH - Bureau of Infectious Disease, is seeking a BID Disease Investigation - Coordinator 1 to assist in disease surveillance and outbreak investigations. The role supports local epidemiologic activities and coordinates with healthcare providers to enhance surveillance.

Responsibilities include case reporting, data management in REDCap and IDRIS, and public health information dissemination.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher degree required; associate with meaningful experience acceptable.
• Analytical skills and strong organizational abilities required.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Experience in disease surveillance or epidemiology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with surveillance to detect cases and identify trends.
• Support Regional Epidemiologist on epidemiologic activities.
• Complete disease case reports in assigned regions.
• Monitor parish health units and hospitals via electronic reporting.
• Analyze and interpret surveillance data for trends and clusters.
• Coordinate with physicians to enhance surveillance.
• Prepare confidential case records and verify medical data.
• Participate in infectious disease outbreak investigations.
• Conduct interviews of diagnosed or suspected cases.
• Provide and disseminate health information to communities at risk.
• Provide health education on prevention and transmission.
