Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs at the Detroit VA Medical Center seeks an Infectious Disease/Internal Medicine physician to provide inpatient and outpatient care, supervise fellows, residents, and students, and participate in teaching, research, and quality improvement activities.

The role includes on-call duties, collaboration with clinical pharmacists, and participation in multidisciplinary teams to advance patient care and education within the VA system.

Qualifications

• US citizenship required; valid medical license in US
• MD or equivalent from an approved medical school
• Residency training in an ACGME/AOA accredited program
• Licensure to practice medicine in a US state or territory
• Board certification is desirable for faculty eligibility

Responsibilities

• Provide medical care for patients on Infectious Diseases Service in cooperation with the team
• Lead and participate in education and training of fellows, residents and students
• Engage in research activities and performance improvement programs
• Coordinate patient care with pharmacists and other ID/IM staff
• Manage on-call duties and inpatient rounds with the team
