Job summary

GBMC HealthCare is seeking a physician to deliver clinical management of patients under general supervision within our hospital system in Maryland. The role requires graduation from an accredited medical program and licensure to practice in Maryland, with board certification and ongoing CME to maintain licensure.

The physician will perform initial evaluations and treatments, document in the EMR, write orders, coordinate referrals, educate patients and families, and ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited medical program.
• Licensed to practice medicine in Maryland.
• Complete required CME credits for continuous licensure.
• Board certified in the physician's specialty; CPR required.

Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility for the initial evaluation and treatment of patients in assigned areas.
• Performs initial history and physical and documents same appropriately in Electronic Medical Record.
• Writes standard orders in accordance with hospital policy.
• Writes appropriate orders related to pre-existing conditions.
• Discusses findings with provider colleagues and staff as necessary.
• Evaluates patient progress and adjusts treatment as needed.
• Evaluates medical, social and educational needs of patients.
• Initiates referrals to ancillary departments and community resources.
• Writes progress notes documenting patient progress and treatment.
• Writes orders to meet patient care requirements in line with contract.
• Establishes medical diagnoses in compliance with contract.
• Escalates acute or life-threatening conditions to ED or specialists as needed.
• Educates patients and families; documents in progress notes and care plans.
• Plans and reviews home care instructions with patients/families; coordinates community services.
• Pursues ongoing education and mandatory in-service training.
