The Infection Preventionist / Staff Educator leads infection surveillance, supports hospital training events, and provides ongoing nursing education to staff in alignment with performance improvement and regulatory standards. The role includes developing infection control education, conducting trainings, data collection, and coordinating with departments to address

Qualifications

• Current license to practice nursing in Kentucky (or eligible to receive or renew).
• Current CPR or BLS certification.
• Desire to work in a psychiatric inpatient setting with patients of various ages.
• Preferred CIC certification in Infection Prevention/Control.

Responsibilities

• Develops and maintains a method of identifying and recording known or suspected infections.
• Carries out periodic inspections to ensure infection control procedures are followed correctly.
• Collects and maintains statistical data for infection control.
• Assists with the development of education program pertaining to infection control within the hospital.
• Regularly facilitates and/or conducts required training classes with all staff.
• Works closely with all departments to review current education and training needs.
• Recommends improvements to training programs as needed or as identified.
• Provides ongoing RN Nursing Education to staff on topics related to performance improvement and regulatory standards.
