Job summary

Lincoln Trail Behavioral Health System in Radcliff, KY, seeks an Infection Preventionist / Staff Educator to oversee infection surveillance and staff education across the hospital.

You will develop education programs, conduct training, perform inspections, collect data, and collaborate with all departments to improve infection control and patient safety, while supporting performance improvement initiatives and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• RN license to practice in Kentucky (or eligible)
• CPR/BLS certification required
• Desire to work in an inpatient psychiatric setting with various age groups
• CIC certification preferred

As an Infection Preventionist / Staff Educator is directly responsible for infection surveillance and reporting, and providing technical support and education for the hospital staff. This individuial also functions as a Staff Educator and is responsible for assisting the CNO in evaluating; reviewing, designing and implementing hospital training events with respect to all staff trainings.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

The Infection Preventionist / Staff Educator is responsible for:

• Develops and maintains a method of identifying and recording known or suspected infections in patients and employees.
• Carries out periodic inspections to ensure that procedures for the control of infections are being followed correctly.
• Collects and maintains statistical data of value in the identification and control of infections.
• Assists with the development of education program pertaining to infection control within the hospital.
• Regularly facilitates and/or conducts required training classes with all staff.
• Works closely with all departments to review current education and training needs.
• Recommends improvements to training programs as needed or as identified.
• Provides on-going RN Nursing Education to staff on a variety of topics as it directly relates to performance improvement initiatives, Joint Commission and other State or Federal Regulatory Agency standards/requirements.
