Lincoln Trail Behavioral Health System is a 140-bed hospital offering inpatient services for adolescents, adults, military, veterans and first responders. Lincoln Trail Behavioral Health System has a spacious cafeteria, gymnasium, art/activity room, group rooms, classrooms and other areas to create a pleasant atmosphere for patients and their families. Lincoln Trail Behavioral Health System’s quality services are provided by psychiatrists, licensed therapists, certified alcohol and drug counselors, activity therapists and teachers. As an Infection Preventionist / Staff Educator is directly responsible for infection surveillance and reporting, and providing technical support and education for the hospital staff. This individual also functions as a Staff Educator and is responsible for assisting the CNO in evaluating, reviewing, designing and implementing hospital training events with respect to all staff trainings.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

The Infection Preventionist / Staff Educator is responsible for:

• Develops and maintains a method of identifying and recording known or suspected infections in patients and employees.
• Carries out periodic inspections to ensure that procedures for the control of infections are being followed correctly.
• Collects and maintains statistical data of value in the identification and control of infections.

• Assists with the development of education program pertaining to infection control within the hospital.
• Regularly facilitates and/or conducts required training classes with all staff.
• Works closely with the all departments to review current education and training needs.
• Recommends improvements to training programs as needed or as identified.
• Provides on-going RN Nursing Education to staff on a variety of topics as it directly relates to performance improvement initiatives, Joint Commission and other State or Federal Regulatory Agency standards/requirements.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• Current license to practice nursing in Kentucky (or eligible to receive or renew).
• Current CPR or BLS certification.
• Desire to work in a psychiatric inpatient setting with patients of various ages.
• Preferred certification in Infection Prevention/Control (CIC).
