Job summary

Blue Point Healthcare Center in Baltimore, MD is seeking an Infection Preventionist Registered Nurse (RN) to lead and coordinate its Infection Prevention and Control Program. The IP RN will monitor surveillance, ensure regulatory compliance, educate staff, and promote resident safety in a long-term care setting.

The ideal candidate has a clinical background in long-term care and a commitment to quality improvement, patient safety, and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Current, active Maryland RN license.
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in long-term care or rehabilitation.
• Infection Prevention and Control experience preferred.
• Knowledge of CDC, CMS, OSHA, and state regulations.
• Strong assessment, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and with interdisciplinary teams.
• Proficiency with EMR and Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the facility's Infection Prevention and Control Program.
• Conduct ongoing infection surveillance and track healthcare-associated infections.
• Analyze infection data and identify trends to reduce infection risks.
• Ensure compliance with CDC, CMS, OSHA, and state infection control regulations.
• Investigate outbreaks and implement corrective action plans.
• Collaborate with the Director of Nursing, Medical Director, and interdisciplinary team to improve resident outcomes.
• Provide infection prevention education and training to staff.
• Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities.
• Conduct audits and monitor hand hygiene, PPE utilization, and isolation precautions.
• Maintain accurate records and reports related to infection control activities.
• Serve as a resource for residents, families, and staff regarding infection prevention practices.
• Assist with emergency preparedness related to infectious disease management.
