Job summary

Cypress Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Wilmington, NC is seeking a knowledgeable RN to join our leadership team as Infection Preventionist / Infection Control Officer. You will oversee the facility's Infection Prevention and Control Program to safeguard residents and staff.

Responsibilities include monitoring surveillance data, ensuring regulatory compliance, educating staff, and leading outbreak investigations in collaboration with clinical leadership to maintain high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Active North Carolina RN license is required.
• Infection Preventionist certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
• Long-term care or skilled nursing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of infection prevention regulations and practices.
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the facility Infection Prevention and Control Program.
• Monitor infection surveillance data and identify trends.
• Ensure compliance with CDC, OSHA, CMS, and state regulations.
• Conduct infection control audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Educate and train staff on infection prevention protocols and best practices.
• Oversee outbreak investigations and response procedures.
• Collaborate with nursing leadership, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to promote resident safety.
• Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and infection tracking logs.
• Monitor antibiotic stewardship initiatives.
• Participate in QAPI activities.
