Job summary

Mariner Healthcare is seeking an Infection Preventionist to lead the facility's infection control program, including education, surveillance, prevention, and control activities.

The IP will follow CDC/CDPH guidance, coordinate with DON or Nursing leadership as needed, and ensure regulatory compliance in long-term care settings. RN or LVN with IP training preferred; strong infection control knowledge required.

Qualifications

• RN or LVN with at least 2 years direct resident care experience.
• Infection Preventionist training program for long-term care.
• Familiar with nursing care in the facility and resident care.

Responsibilities

• Collect data on infections (surveillance).
• Assist with implementation and compliance of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan and Tuberculosis Infection Control Plan.
• Ensure processes and policies for surveillance, hand hygiene, disease monitoring, water management, standard and enhanced precautions, isolation procedures, outbreak control, immunizations, antibiotic stewardship, and resident/employee health.
• Provide education of staff, residents, and visitors in infection prevention and control.
• Institute isolation precautions as needed.
• Report findings to leadership and QAPI committee.
