Job summary

Qualifications

• Must speak and understand English fluently.
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or healthcare related field required.
• Current state RN license required.
• CIC preferred and required within 3 years of employment.
• At least 2 years RN clinical experience, preferably acute care.
• Ability to identify and research problems; analyze data; strong communication and computer skills.
• Knowledge of microbiology, biostatistics, and hospital epidemiology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Abstracts data from patient charts for surveillance and infection statistics.
• Reports epidemiological findings to department leadership and Medical Director.
• Maintains infection records; analyzes data and recommends improvements.
• Advocates for patients, visitors and staff; develops infection prevention policies.
• Investigates healthcare worker exposures and non-employees with communicable diseases.
• Assists with facility construction MOISTURE-related investigations and recommendations.
• Identifies unsafe infection control practices and designs alternatives.
• Acts as resource on infection prevention; may serve on committees.
• Collaborates on policy development with epidemiology and safety teams.
