Job summary

Alexandria Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center is seeking an Infection Prevention Nurse to lead infection prevention efforts in a 111-bed sub-acute and long-term care setting in Alexandria, VA. This full-time role focuses on identifying trends, implementing evidence-based practices, and educating staff to safeguard residents and the team.

The ideal candidate holds an RN license with active BLS, an associate degree or higher, and completed infection prevention training; CIC is preferred.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing
• BLS Certification (CPR) required
• ADN or higher in Nursing or related field
• Completion of specialized infection prevention and control training
• CIC certification preferred
• Strong clinical knowledge and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

• Identify, investigate, monitor, and report trends in infections to support prevention strategies.
• Collaborate with leadership and staff to implement infection prevention practices.
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention policies and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and evaluate infection control initiatives to reduce risk.
• Educate staff on infection prevention to ensure adherence to protocols.
• Participate in Quality Assurance and Improvement committees.
• Conduct surveillance activities and audits to monitor control effectiveness.
• Serve as subject-matter expert on infection prevention across the organization.
