Job summary

Nexus at Alton is seeking an Infection Control Nurse to develop, implement, and monitor infection prevention practices for residents, staff, and visitors. The role focuses on safeguarding a safe healthcare environment by identifying risks and leading prevention initiatives.

Responsibilities include skincare for residents, wound care, care plan development, and educating families and staff on wound healing, nutrition, and turning/repositioning techniques to promote recovery.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Illinois required.
• Strong knowledge of infection prevention principles and regulations.
• Excellent communication and education skills to train staff and residents.
• Professional experience as an Infection Control Nurse preferred.

• Identify, manage, and treat skin disorders and wounds as part of care plans.

Position Overview:

Responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring infection prevention and control practices to protect residents, staff, and visitors. This role promotes a safe healthcare environment by identifying infection risks, ensuring regulatory compliance, and leading infection prevention initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• As an infection control/wound care nurse, you will provide primary skincare to residents.
• You will identify, manage, and treat specific skin disorders, primary and secondary lesions, and decubitus ulcers.
• You will participate in the development and implementation of patient care plans.
• You will educate family, staff, and residents about the importance of nutrition, skin barriers, hydration, turning, and repositioning to promote wound healing.
