Job summary

Heartwood Extended Health Care in Tacoma, Washington is seeking an Infection Preventionist Nurse to join our clinical team and provide our residents with an exceptional care experience. The Infection Preventionist Nurse reports to the Director of Nursing and partners with the Medical Director to develop a system of care that promotes sound and scientific infection prevention principles and practices.

Qualifications

Must hold an RN or LPN license in good standing.
Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience in a healthcare setting.
Training in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement and evaluate annual infection prevention goals and action plans.
Oversee infection prevention, epidemiology and safety programs.
Monitor healthcare and community infections and report trends.
Lead hygiene programs to prevent and control infection risks.
Participate in collaboratives and external reporting (CDC NHSN and others).
Ensure staff and medical staff receive education on infection control when issues arise.
Stay updated on federal, state, and local regulations and OSHA procedures.
