Job summary

Cypress Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Wilmington, NC seeks an experienced RN to lead our Infection Prevention and Control program as Infection Preventionist / Infection Control Officer. You will oversee surveillance, audits, staff training, and outbreak response to safeguard resident safety and regulatory compliance.

The role collaborates with nursing leadership and interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality care and continuous improvement through QAPI initiatives.

Qualifications

• Current and active North Carolina RN license.
• Infection prevention certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Long-term care or skilled nursing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of infection prevention regulations and practices.
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Experience with staff education and compliance monitoring preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the facility Infection Prevention and Control Program.
• Monitor infection surveillance data and identify trends.
• Ensure compliance with CDC, OSHA, CMS, and state regulations.
• Conduct infection control audits and implement corrective actions.
• Educate and train staff on infection prevention protocols.
• Oversee outbreak investigations and response procedures.
• Collaborate with nursing leadership, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Maintain documentation, reports, and infection tracking logs.
• Monitor antibiotic stewardship initiatives.
• Participate in QAPI activities.
