Job summary

Coastal Health & Wellness is seeking an experienced Infection Prevention and Control Nurse to oversee the IPC program across its medical, dental, and laboratory services. The role focuses on surveillance, risk assessment, and training to protect patients and staff.

The successful candidate will conduct monthly surveillance, prepare reports for leadership and boards, and lead annual risk assessments. A Texas RN license, BLS, and four years in infection control are required.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the State of Texas.
• Minimum four (4) years of infection control experience.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Working knowledge of infection prevention, sterilization practices, and regulatory standards.
• Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate infection control, quality, and safety plans.

Responsibilities

• Oversee infection prevention program across CHW clinics.
• Conduct monthly infection control surveillance and audits; report findings.
• Prepare infection control reports for leadership and committees.
• Conduct annual infection control risk assessments and develop action plans.
• Review and update infection prevention guidelines for compliance.
• Provide infection prevention education during orientation and ongoing training.
• Support employee health activities (TB screenings, fit testing, immunizations, exposure assessments).
• Collaborate with contractors, students, and volunteers on infection prevention.
• Participate in QAPI and Compliance committees.
• Serve as primary infection control resource during regulatory visits.
• Ensure staff are trained in cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization.
• Assess infection prevention risks related to renovations and new locations.
• Collaborate with clinic teams on safe practices and infectious disease response.
