Job summary

REHAB Hospital of the Pacific is seeking an Infection Preventionist to lead the facility-wide Infection Prevention and Control program. You will co-chair the IPCC, coordinate surveillance, education, policy development and regulatory compliance across inpatient, outpatient therapy and ambulator y settings.

This role reports to the Chief Medical Officer and offers autonomy in day-to-day operations. Ideal candidates have CIC certification, a BSN, BLS, and 2–3 years of clinical experience with 1–2

Qualifications

• Certification in Infection Control (CIC) required or obtained within 24 months.
• BLS certification before hire date.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN).
• 2–3 years direct clinical healthcare experience with 1–2 years in infection prevention.
• Knowledge of CDC/NHSN definitions and OSHA standards.
• Strong data analysis and reporting abilities.
• Ability to collaborate across departments and drive corrective actions.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily surveillance of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs).
• Serve as NHSN Administrator for timely data reporting.
• Investigate and manage outbreaks with CMO and public health agencies.
• Lead antimicrobial stewardship in collaboration with medical and pharmacy staff.
• Perform RCA on infection events and develop mitigation plans.
• Audit hand hygiene, isolation, and waste disposal protocols across units and clinics.
• Develop and update IPC policies and risk assessments.
• Educate staff on infection control and precautions.
