Job summary

Blue River Nursing & Rehab is seeking an Infection Prevention Nurse (IPN) to join a team focused on patient safety and high-quality resident care in Kansas City, MO. The IPN will drive infection prevention initiatives and partner with clinicians to maintain a safe care environment.

Under RN direction, you will manage infection prevention programs, oversee outbreaks, support employee health, and ensure compliance with OSHA and APIC guidelines while educating staff and coordinating

PREVENTING THE SPREAD OF INFECTION IN THE WORKPLACE

This home will ensure a clean workplace, including the regular cleaning of objects and areas that are frequently used, such as bathrooms, break-rooms, conference rooms, door handles and railings. A committee will be designated to monitor and coordinate events around an infectious disease outbreak, as well as to create work rules that could be implemented to promote safety through infection control. We ask all employees to cooperate in taking steps to reduce the transmission of infectious disease in the workplace. The best strategy remains the most obvious- frequent hand washing with warm, soapy water; covering your mouth whenever you sneeze or cough; and discarding used tissues in wastebaskets. We will also install alcohol-based hand sanitizers throughout the workplace and in common areas. Unless otherwise notified, our normal attendance and leave policies will remain in place.

Infection Control in the Workplace

• Follow standard infection control standards, including following isolation precautions
• Standard Precautions- assume every person is potentially infected with a pathogen that could be transmitted in the healthcare setting
• Attend a training on correct use and proper donning and disposal of any Personal Protective Equipment (which we provide full PPE for all staff following rigorous sanitation standards by the CDC, including a very engaged Admin/DON.)

Recovering from surgery or a serious illness after a hospital stay often requires more time and specialized care before you can return home. Additional help with pain management, close monitoring of complex chronic conditions may also be required. Infection Prevention Nurse (IPN)

Job Description

We are looking for an assertive Nurse who can hit the ground running. Under the direction of a RN, you will be responsible for one or multiple centers Infection Prevention and Control Program and will function as a practitioner, resource, consultant, educator and facilitator for all staff focusing on the following areas: Infection Prevention & Control Activities, Outbreak Management, Employee Health and Outcome & Process Surveillance. The latter includes identifying, investigating, analyzing, controlling and reporting infections.

Qualifications

• RN license preferred but not required.
• Current LVN/LPN license in practicing state.
• Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to acquire one.
• Experience in nursing management and prevention control.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates hospital-wide Infection Prevention Control Program.
• Complies with Federal and state regulations. Adheres to Administration (OSHA), Association for Professionals in Infection Control & Epidemiology (APIC), Association Occupational Health Professionals (AHOP) and other regulatory agencies.
• Prioritizes Infection Prevention goals.
• Collaborates with Department managers and medical directors in implementing aspects of the Infection Prevention Program when requested or as needed.
