Job summary

REHAB Hospital of the Pacific seeks an Infection Preventionist to lead the facility-wide IPC program across inpatient and outpatient settings in Hawaii. Qualifications

• Certification in Infection Control (CIC) required; if not certified on hire, CIC must be attained within 24 months.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification to be obtained before hire date.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required; candidates may be considered with equivalent education/experience.
• Minimum of 2–3 years direct clinical healthcare experience, including 1–2 years in infection prevention and control.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily surveillance of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) by monitoring labs, antibiotic logs, and patient records.
• Serve as NHSN Administrator, ensuring timely data reporting.
• Investigate outbreaks and coordinate with the Chief Medical Officer and public health agencies.
• Champion antimicrobial stewardship in collaboration with medical, clinical, and pharmacy staff.
• Perform root cause analyses on infection events to develop mitigation plans.
• Conduct routine infection control rounds across units and clinics to verify compliance.
