Job summary

UCI Health is seeking a Director of Epidemiology and Infection Prevention to lead system-wide infection prevention and control initiatives. The role drives high-reliability practices, collaborates with executive leadership, and oversees surveillance of HAIs and emerging infectious diseases across inpatient and perioperative settings.

The ideal candidate brings 7+ years as an infection preventionist, CIC certification, and strong data-driven leadership in an academic medical center.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of experience as an infection preventionist.
• Knowledge of current trends and best practices in epidemiology and infection prevention.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Excellent public speaking skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Demonstrated skill in data management and analysis.
• Demonstrated leadership in emerging infectious disease preparedness and response.
• Experience with strategic leadership for EIP and EIDP.
• Experience with standardization and integration of infection prevention policies and initiatives.
• Experience with regulatory compliance and coordination with public health agencies.

Responsibilities

• Lead system-wide infection prevention and control efforts.
• Develop and implement integrated, high-reliability infection prevention initiatives.
• Collaborate with system leadership to standardize practices and ensure accountability.
• Oversee surveillance, investigation, and reporting of HAIs and communicable diseases.
• Mentor and develop EIP team members; manage multiple projects in a fast-paced setting.
