Qualifications

• Current state RN license and nursing degree from an accredited nursing school.
• AHA BLS required; APIC member; EPI training completed.
• CPI training within 30 days.
• Three years of Behavioral Health RN experience; two years supervisory experience; infection control certification preferred; nurse education experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct infection prevention and control program for the hospital; coordinate surveillance and reporting.
• Provide infection control education to facility staff and physicians.
• Coordinate prevention/intervention measures and track reporting systems.
• Compare lab reports with disease lists to identify required control procedures.
• Advise staff on precautions to protect patients and staff.
• Investigate infection control issues and arrange follow-up care as needed.
• Instruct staff in universal and specific infection control procedures.
• Assist CNO in directing nursing activities and evaluating nursing services.
