Job summary

Freedom Behavioral Hospital of Monroe is seeking an Infection Control and Employee Health nurse to join our Leadership team. This role monitors infection prevention practices hospital-wide and provides education to leadership, medical staff, hospital staff and Governing Body.

The IC/EH nurse leads performance improvement activities, supports regulatory surveys, and collaborates with department managers to implement the Infection Prevention Plan and ensure patient safety.

Qualifications

• Three years of clinical nursing experience preferred.
• Two years of infection prevention experience preferred.
• Current licensure as LPN or Registered nurse.

Responsibilities

• Performs Infection Prevention surveillance for hospital-acquired infections per NHSN guidelines.
• Ensures correct isolation procedures and monitors compliance with infection prevention policies.
• Acts as subject matter leader for infection prevention/employee health issues.
• Participates in development and evaluation of Infection Prevention Plan and risk assessments.
• Prepares Infection Prevention/Employee Health data and presents at committee meetings.

We are seeking a dynamic Infection Control and Employee Health nurse to join our Leadership team!

Freedom Behavioral Hospital of Monroe is a 82-bed acute care facility providing specialized care for adults with their mental health and behavioral health needs. The hospital offers a wide range of services, including inpatient and outpatient care. The Infection Control/Employee Health Nurse is responsible for monitoring the healthcare environment for appropriate Infection Prevention practices. This role provides education to leadership, medical staff, hospital staff and Governing Body. The IC/EH nurse facilitates performance improvement activities and CQI activities throughout the hospital through the QAPI plan. Acts as a resource person to administrative team, department managers and medical staff. Assists department managers with preparation for all committee meetings as needed. Assists with preparation for all regulatory body surveys, i.e., the accrediting organization, State Licensing Review, CMS Validation surveys. Focuses the plan on the basis of 3 categories: Quality Management, Risk Management, and Staff Educator. Functions as a member of the multidisciplinary team and communicates identified patient goals, interventions, and assessments.

Duties Include but are not limited to:

• Performs Infection Prevention surveillance for hospital-acquired infections based on the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) guidelines. Reports communicable diseases to the health department, as required. Notifies System Infection Prevention Director and entity Leadership of any identified trends or issues.
• Ensures correct isolation procedures are practiced. Proactively and consistently monitors the healthcare environment to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and infection prevention policies and procedures. Addresses deficiencies proactively by providing feedback and guidance to leaders regarding infection prevention issues.
• Acts as the subject matter expert and leader regarding infection prevention/employee health issues.
• Actively participates in the development of goals and objectives based upon the annual risk assessment results. Assists in the development, implementation and evaluation of the Infection Prevention Plan.
• Prepares or assists in the preparation of Infection Prevention/Employee Health data.
• Prepares and presents educational workshops, lectures, discussions or one-to-one instruction on infection prevention/Employee Health topics.
• Assists in the development and implementation of the organization's adopted performance-improvement program
• Maintains and updates organization-wide performance-improvement programs, policies, and procedures
• Develops effective data collection, organization, and evaluation systems for monitoring the quality of patient care
• Summarizes collected data and reports findings and recommendations in a timely manner to the performance-improvement committee
• Assists in the evaluation of patient, employee, and medical staff grievances to identify ways to improve patient care and performance standards
• Serves as an educational resource for performance improvement and keeps facility current on state and federal rules and regulations and accrediting-body requirements
• Maintains performance-improvement records in a confidential and organized manner
• Performs other duties, as assigned.

Experience

Minimum: Three years of clinical experience preferred.

Two years of experience in Infection Prevention preferred

Licensure, Registration, Certification
