Keystone STARS childcare centers located in West and South West Philadelphia have immediate openings for Infant, Toddler, Preschool, and School Age Teachers. Lead Teacher candidates must have an Associate's Degree in ECE or be currently enrolled in an AA/BA program in ECE or hold a Child Development Associate (CDA). Assistant Teacher candidates must have their CDA or be enrolled in a CDA program. Experience working with children is preferred.
Overview:
Develop and maintain a classroom program that meets the social/emotional, physical, cognitive, and language needs of both the individual child and the group.
Key Responsibilities include:
Develop and implement lesson plans weekly based on PA Early Learning Standards; encourage classroom staff to contribute to the planning process.
Prepare and maintain a classroom environment that is safe, clean, and inviting.
Observe and assess children’s development, documenting learning through written notes, C2L-approved assessment tools, and a portfolio system.
Use observations and assessments to inform planning and provide a basis for parent-teacher conferences.
Supervise, train, and evaluate classroom staff, including volunteers.
Establish and maintain positive communication with families through daily informal exchanges, newsletters, and calendars.
Share information with families about their child's development and learning via daily notes, phone calls, home visits, and conferences.
Practice confidentiality regarding staff, families, and proprietary information.
Work with the Director to ensure proper staffing in the classroom.
Exercise waste control and develop plans for resource improvement if needed.
Maintain professionalism, flexibility, and teamwork in relationships with co-workers.
Meet annual professional development goals as required by the center’s Keystone Star level.
Engage with children and encourage participation in activities.
Use positive behavior management methods, emphasizing problem-solving and conflict resolution.
Maintain classroom records and files.
Attend staff meetings, Back to School Night, in-service days, and parent meetings.
Inform the Director of classroom needs promptly.
Supervise and ensure the safety of all children at all times.
Report suspected child abuse or neglect to the appropriate authority.
Adhere to policies in the C2L Policy Manual, DPW regulations, and NAEYC Code of Ethics.
Support the mission of Care to Learn Child Development Center.
Perform other duties as assigned.
