Job summary

BVCAP Head Start is seeking an Early Head Start Teacher to provide high‑quality education for children aged 0–3. You will foster physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development in a nurturing setting, partnering with families and staff to support school readiness.

The role requires CDA credentials or equivalent, a degree in child development or ECE preferred, two years of infant/toddler experience, and CPR/First Aid within 30 days.

Qualifications

• A current national infant and toddler center‑based CDA credential or equivalent meets the credential requirements
• Degree in child development or early childhood education (ECE) preferred with related coursework
• Two years experience with infants/toddlers preferred
• Flexibility to schedule/flex to meet families' needs
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills a plus
• Knowledge of computer skills, word processing, and email
• CPR & First Aid certification within 30 days of employment
• Ability to be patient and understanding with children and parents
• Position contingent on successful federal background check

Responsibilities

• Follow agency‑adopted curriculum and guide learning with effective strategies
• Prepare classroom environment/materials to support developmentally appropriate activities
• Assess needs of individuals and groups, considering interests and strengths
• Collaborate with families and staff to plan for IFSP goals
• Coordinate with support staff to deliver integrated services across components
• Create a positive classroom climate and promote language development
• Engage families through home visits and family activity events
• Document attendance, contacts, and service referrals accurately
• Ensure safety and supervision of children at all times
• Follow policies and procedures for crisis or emergency situations
