Job summary

YMCA is seeking Assistant Teachers to join our early childhood education team in Middletown, Ohio. The role focuses on supporting Lead Teachers, delivering age-appropriate lessons, and fostering a safe, inclusive classroom environment.

This position offers 20–30 hours per week with shifts Mon-Fri between 6:30 AM and 6:00 PM, plus a $300 sign-on bonus after 30/60/90 days. Free YMCA membership is included, and opportunities exist for professional growth within a mission-driven organization.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; equivalent accepted.
• Minimum 2 years experience with children or in customer service.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Certifications in First Aid/CPR or willingness to obtain within 90 days.
• Basic computer proficiency and documentation duties.

Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of high-quality childcare and educational programs aligned with YMCA standards.
• Encourage children's development through positive interactions and engaging activities.
• Assist with planning and implementing age-appropriate lessons and experiences.
• Create and maintain a safe, nurturing classroom and outdoor environment.
• Build trusting relationships with children, families, and staff.
• Maintain compliance with YMCA policies, licensing requirements, and Step Up to Quality standards.
• Assist with meal and snack planning in accordance with CACFP guidelines.
• Help maintain organized, clean, engaging classroom spaces.
• Communicate observations, concerns, and developmental progress with Lead Teachers and families.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
