Job summary

Shenandoah University Child Care Center in Winchester, Virginia seeks a Lead Teacher for the Infant classroom. This full-time, benefited role supports a warm, developmentally focused environment for infants.

The Lead Teacher implements weekly lesson plans, follows infant routines, documents daily activities, and maintains communication with families while supervising staff and ensuring a safe classroom.

Qualifications

• Strong oral and written communication and basic computer skills required.
• Excellent leadership and organizational abilities.
• Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
• Ability to multitask in an active classroom and maintain confidentiality.
• CPR and First Aid certification current.
• Complete required Virginia pre-service training.
• Complete TB screening and background checks as required.
• MAT training as required.
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and handle physical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Follow infants' daily routines including feeding, sleeping, and diapering.
• Provide warm, responsive interactions and respond to each child’s cues.
• Develop and implement weekly developmentally appropriate lesson plans.
• Provide age-appropriate sensory, language, music, and motor activities.
• Maintain documentation of each child’s day and progress.
• Communicate regularly with families about daily activities and development.
• Supervise classroom assistants and maintain classroom safety and cleanliness.
• Ensure staff-to-child ratios are maintained at all times.
