Job summary

Isle of Hope Baptist Child Development Center in Savannah is seeking a qualified Lead Teacher to support the Infant classroom and help implement a faith-based, high-quality educational program. You will observe children, document activities, meals, and progress, and relay information to parents and staff while developing developmentally appropriate activities.

The role emphasizes building positive relationships, following the director's guidance, and leading by example in a nurturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Must have CDA, TCC, or an Associate degree in Early Childhood Education.
  • Pass a background check.
  • 1+ year of on-the-job training experience.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (preferred) or within 90 days of hire.
  • Maintain 18 hours of continued training for the year.
  • Work full-time, Monday through Friday.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Dress professionally at all times.
  • Pass Bright From the Start background check.
  • Genuinely care about children's development.
  • Be friendly, a team player, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Avoid using electronics while on the clock; use Procare for documentation when required.
  • Be a strong verbal communicator with an upbeat personality, comfortable speaking to parents.
  • Be clean, neat, and professionally dressed at all times.
  • No cell phones on the clock; ear pods not allowed.
  • Be willing to follow our mission statement and lead by example.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains confidentiality in internal and external communication between employees and/or parents
  • Provides a safe and loving environment that supports development across social, emotional, cognitive, creative, and physical domains
  • Assists lead teacher in lesson planning, schedule implementation, supervision, and management while encouraging participation by children
  • Follows the classroom schedule including outdoor time, meals, snacks, and special activities
  • Maintains daily, positive communication with families through Procare
  • Maintains a safe, comforting, and stimulating environment
  • Manages cleanliness, order, and availability of classroom materials
  • Changes diapers and/or soiled clothes; assists in potty training
  • Completes all other assigned duties

Job description

About This Role

We are seeking a qualified Lead Teacher to join our team at Isle of Hope Baptist Child Development Center. As a Lead Teacher, you will play a vital role in creating a safe and loving environment for our Infant classroom. Your primary responsibilities will include supporting the Director and Assistant Director in implementing a quality educational program and developing positive relationships with children and their parents. You will be responsible for observing and documenting children’s activities, meals/snacks, and progress throughout each day, and relaying that information back to parents and staff. You will also be responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on children’s interests and needs, as well as creating lesson plans to support these activities under the direction of the Director.

What You'll Do
  • Maintains confidentiality in internal and external communication between employees and/or parents
  • Provides a safe and loving environment that fosters the social, emotional, cognitive, creative, and physical development of each child
  • Assists lead teacher in lesson plan and schedule implementation, supervision, and management while encouraging participation by children that aligns with our program goals
  • Follows the program schedule for the classroom, outdoor time, meals, snacks, and special activities
  • Maintains daily, positive communication with families through Procare
  • Maintains a safe, comforting, and stimulating environment
  • Manages the cleanliness, order, and availability of classroom materials
  • Changes diapers and/or soiled clothes, assists in potty training
  • Completes all other assigned duties
Requirements
  • Lead teachers must have one of the following: A Child Development Associate credential (CDA), a Technical Certificate of Credit in Early Childhood (TCC), or an Associate's Degree or Higher in Early Childhood Education.
  • Pass a background check.
  • Have 1+ year of on-the-job training experience.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (preferred) or within 90 days of hire.
  • Maintain 18 hours of continued training for the year.
  • Work full-time, Monday through Friday.
  • Have reliable transportation.
  • Dress professionally at all times.
  • Pass a Satisfactory Comprehensive National background check through Bright From the Start.
  • Genuinely care about children and their social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development.
  • Be friendly, a team player, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exhibit an energetic, nurturing, positive, child-friendly personality.
  • Avoid using electronics while on the clock, unless using Procare for documentation or given permission.
  • Be a strong verbal communicator with an upbeat personality, comfortable speaking to parents.
  • Be clean, neat, and professionally dressed at all times, serving as a good role model for children.
  • Refrain from using cell phones unless required for reporting. Ear pods are not allowed at any time.
  • Be willing to follow our mission statement and lead by example.
