Job summary

JCC Chicago in Evanston, IL, is seeking an Early Childhood Assistant Teacher for the Beth Emet location to join a developmental, play-based program for infants. The role emphasizes a cooperative team approach and collaboration with families, educators, and specialists to support the whole child within a Jewish life framework.

The position prioritizes safety, communication, and ongoing professional development within a DCFS-compliant environment, with engagement in meetings and daily classroom

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety and welfare of all children, supervising by sight and sound.
• Work with the teaching team to implement the JCC's integrated secular and Jewish curriculum.
• Provide and maintain an atmosphere conducive to emotional and cognitive growth.
• Establish and maintain strong communication with directors, staff, and families.
• Welcome families and provide information regarding their child's progress.
• Foster a collaborative, team-focused environment throughout the classroom and agency.
• Participate in at least 15 hours of staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development annually.
• Help maintain DCFS and Illinois state standards.
• Contribute written content and photos for newsletters, portfolios, and family communications.
• Participate in regular communication with families through meetings, email, Kaymbu, conferences, and portfolios.
• Assist with classroom management, daily routines, and social-emotional support for children.
• Demonstrate awareness of the classroom environment and actively move throughout learning spaces.
• Assist with classroom setup and implementation of lesson plans created by the Lead Teacher.
