Job summary

Madison Area YMCA is hiring an Infant Classroom Assistant Teacher in Madison, NJ. This full-time role supports the Lead Teacher in caring for infants, maintaining the classroom, and communicating with families.

You will ensure health, safety, and well-being of children while assisting with curriculum implementation and licensing compliance. Your duties include supervising children, assisting with diapering and mealtimes, completing daily paperwork, and promoting a safe, nurturing environment

Qualifications

• Experience in early childhood settings preferred.
• Ability to follow center policies and licensing requirements.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children as directed by Lead Teacher/Assistant Lead Teacher.
• Interact with children during free play, group activities, and routine times.
• Complete daily licensing and YMCA paperwork (attendance, meals, accidents).
• Perform other duties as needed and maintain a safe environment.
• Set up classroom before arrival and clean up after departure.
• Support other classrooms and substitute when needed.
• Build relationships with parents, children, and staff to support YMCA mission.
• Greet and health-check children on arrival and departure, monitor health.
• Promote health and nutrition and prevent illness.
• Follow positive guidance discipline policies and conduct.
