Job summary

YMCA of Montclair is seeking an Early Childhood Assistant Teacher to support the classroom teacher and provide a safe, engaging environment for children. Under supervision, you will assist with instructional activities, supervision, and daily care.

Qualifications include a high school diploma, 2 years of classroom experience, CPR/First Aid within 90 days of hire, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. We value teamwork and the YMCA's four Core Values.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years old or older and have a high school diploma.
• Two years of classroom experience with children or suitable experience.
• Must obtain CDA program within first year if only a high school diploma.
• CPR for the Professional Rescuer, EPI, Asthma and First Aid within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to engage groups of children with activities and games.

Responsibilities

• Greet children and parents upon arrival and monitor health.
• Assist the teacher with instructional lessons and activities.
• Supervise children during outdoor play and drills.
• Prepare learning materials, centers, and bulletin boards.
• Maintain classroom cleanliness and safety, and document incidents.
