Qualifications

• 12+ units in Early Childhood Education or Child Development required
• AA degree preferred
• Valid Child Development Associate Teacher Permit preferred (Required for Title 5 programs)
• Infant/toddler Child Development Coursework (3-semester units) required for infant classrooms
• 1+ years supervising children ages 6 weeks to 5 years in infant/toddler/preschool programs
• Knowledge of district software or ability to learn
• Current or pending CPR and First Aid certification and maintenance
• 8-hour Health and Safety training or ability to obtain
• Immunizations against influenza, pertussis, measles
• Knowledge of Title 22 and Title 5 requirements
• Strong English communication skills
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and move in classrooms
• Ability to sit/stand in various classroom configurations for extended periods
• Ability to drive a personal vehicle as needed
• Ability to hear and speak with students, families, and staff

Responsibilities

• Provide visual supervision of children and maintain teacher/child ratio
• Assist substitutes in classroom routines to meet student needs
• Participate in parent conferences
• Supervise meals and supervise children during mealtime
• Maintain confidentiality of children, families, and employees
• Assist teachers in curriculum development aligned with district standards
• Complete program quality and assessment processes
• Monitor restroom use and toilet learning
• Stay current with updates in child development regulations
• Administer basic First Aid as needed and promote health/safety
• Support other programs when requested
• Attend meetings as requested
• Maintain organization, care, and protection of school property
• Participate in district professional learning and 21 hours of growth per year
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Transcript copy of Infant/toddler coursework units
