Job summary

The Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo is seeking an Associate Teacher for our Early Childhood Education team. This position focuses on providing care and education for children ages 0-5, supporting development, and delivering developmentally appropriate activities.

Ideal candidates will hold 12 ECE semester units or a CDA credential or a valid Associate Teacher Permit, plus 6 months of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• 12 ECE semester units (or CDA credential or CTC) required.
• 6 months related experience with children ages 0-5.
• Associate Teacher Permit or higher required.
• If HS/EHS/MSHS, must meet criteria: CDA or California CDA equivalency or enrolled in credential program within 2 years; or have an associate or bachelor’s degree (or enrolled in such).
• Valid California driver’s license, DMV record, and proof of insurance may be required for travel.

Responsibilities

• Provide care and education for children 0-5, ensuring a positive and engaging learning experience.
• Collaborate with the Center Supervisor and Teachers to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities.
• Assume duties of a Teacher in their absence, guiding instructional assistants, parents, and volunteers.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and nurturing environment for all children.
• Assist in planning and executing educational activities that promote child development.
• Participate in physical activities with children, including games, music, and outdoor play.
• Assist with bus supervision and ensure safety during transportation.
• Complete pediatric first aid and pediatric CPR training within the first 30 days of hire.
• Complete 16 hours of training on preventative health practices and nutrition within 30 days of hire.

We are looking for dedicated individual to join our Early Childhood Education team as Associate Teacher. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in the growth and development of children while supporting our mission to provide high-quality education and care.

What we're looking for in the ideal candidate:

• Has 12 semester units ECE/CD, with a grade C or better, or CDA Credential or CTC.
• Has 6 months related experience with children ages 0-5 years of age.
• Has an Associate Teacher Permit or higher.
• HS/EHS/MSHS/State-Braided Associate Teachers must also meet at least one of the following criteria:
  • Have a child development associate (CDA) credential or the California equivalent of a Child Development Associate Teacher Permit at time of hire (12 ECE semester units including core courses; and for EHS and infant/toddler classrooms must also have 6 infant/toddler semester units)
  • OR
  • Be enrolled in a CDA credential program that will be completed within 2 years;
  • OR
  • Have an associate or bachelor's degree (in any area) or be enrolled in a program leading to such a degree.
• Depending on the department assigned, a valid California driver’s license, a current DMV driving record, and proof of insurance may be required to fulfill job-related travel. Reasonable accommodations will be considered in accordance with applicable laws.

As an Associate Teacher you will:
