Job description

Summary: Welding of standard products, including all specials, small parts, and templates used to complete the job. Welders will utilize the necessary welding processes to finish each task. All welders are responsible for grinding and surface finishing products according to blueprints, oral instructions, or shop drawings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned:

• Perform tasks as instructed when directed
• Understand units of measure and perform mathematical calculations related to steel fabrication. Recognize structural steel shapes and their notation on drawings
• Adhere to all safety practices, including wearing and maintaining PPE as required by OSHA and company policies
• Check in, clock in, and record jobs daily
• Read and interpret welding symbols; weld various metals and alloys in vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions according to applicable codes and standards
• Set up and adjust welding machines, plasma cutters, and related equipment
• Grind rough edges, surplus welds, or scale following blueprints, shop drawings, and oral instructions
• Maintain cleanliness of work area, machines, tools, and equipment
• Read and understand CAD drawings and fabricate accordingly
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualification Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED; or a one-year certificate from a technical school
• Or three to four years of related experience and/or training
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
