Job summary

Interprint, Inc. is hiring an Industrial Wastewater Technician in Pittsfield, MA, to operate and monitor wastewater treatment systems and related equipment. The role requires a Level II wastewater license, reliability, and strong mechanical aptitude.

You will work with engineers and operators to ensure safe, compliant operation and continuous process improvement. Shifts are 2:00pm–10:00pm, Monday through Friday, with overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor equipment used in wastewater treatment, including valves, pumps, filters, and dosing systems.
• Monitor pH, flow, and key parameters to ensure quality and compliance.
• Perform housekeeping and hazardous waste duties, inspect and maintain storage areas.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and perform routine maintenance on treatment systems.
• Handle chemicals like biocides and coagulants and maintain inventory.
• Collect samples and conduct tests (chemical and biological).
• Maintain logs of parameters, maintenance, and incidents.
• Adhere to safety protocols and environmental regulations.
• Collaborate with operators, engineers, and supervisors to optimize performance.
• Maintain reverse osmosis and chill water systems.

JOB TITLE:

Industrial Wastewater Technician

RATE RANGE:

$23.00 - $27.00 based on experience and license.

HOURS:

2:00pm – 10:00pm Monday - Friday. Overtime as needed.

JOB DUTIES:

To encompass the following but not limited to:

• Operate and monitor various equipment and machinery used in wastewater treatment processes, such as valves, pumps, filters, and chemical dosing systems.
• Monitor and inspect wastewater treatment processes to ensure proper functioning and adherence to quality standards. Includes checking pH levels, flow rates, and other key parameters.
• Hazardous waste duties including inspections, shipping, training and maintaining storage areas to ensure compliance.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose problems in the treatment system and make necessary repairs. Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning equipment, replacing worn out parts, and conducting preventative maintenance.
• Handle and apply chemicals used in wastewater treatment such as biocides, coagulants, and pH adjusting agents. Maintain adequate inventory of chemicals needed for processes.
• Collect samples of wastewater at different stages of the treatment process. They perform various tests and analyses, including chemical and biological tests.
• Maintain detailed logs of process parameters, test results, equipment maintenance, and any incidents or deviations.
• Adhere to safety protocols and ensure compliance with environmental regulations and wastewater treatment permits.
• Work as part of a team, collaborating with other operators, engineers, and supervisors to optimize system performance.
• Maintain and operate reverse osmosis system.
• Maintain facility chiller water systems by testing and adding inhibitor and biocide chemicals.

REQUIRED:

• Obtain and/or maintain proper wastewater level II license.
• Reliable and punctual; consistently arrives on time and ready to work.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Communicates clearly and professionally with team members.
• Works effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

PREFERRED:

• Completion of vocational training in machine shop.
• Previous work experience in same or similar field.
