Job summary

Woodard & Curran in New Jersey is seeking an Industrial Wastewater Operations & Maintenance Technician to support our water and wastewater treatment facilities. The role emphasizes hands-on troubleshooting, safety, and reliable operation of plant systems.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, 2-4 years in O&M, and the ability to read drawings, follow specifications, and work as part of a team. NJ license preferred or obtainable; OSHA HAZWOPER certification required or current.

Qualifications

• High School or trade school diploma required; Bachelor’s preferred.
• 2-4 years in operations & maintenance of a water/wastewater facility or equivalent.
• Mechanical ability and adaptability to changing conditions.
• Hands-on troubleshooting of treatment system issues.
• NJ Industrial Wastewater License preferred or obtainable via exam/reciprocity.
• OSHA 40hr HAZWOPER with 8hr refresher.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Knowledge of wastewater treatment operation and safety.
• Proficiency with basic computer applications.
• Ability to read/interpret instructions, drawings and specifications.
• Effective oral and written communication.
• Strong work ethic and team-first approach.

Industrial Wastewater Operations & Maintenance Technician

Requirements

• High School or trade school diploma is required; a Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
• 2-4 years of experience in operations & maintenance of a water and/or wastewater treatment facility; or any equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred.
• Mechanical ability and overall adaptability to changing conditions and environments is required.
• A hands-on approach to troubleshooting, identifying, and resolving maintenance related issues that arise in the treatment system.
• New Jersey Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator's License (N), is preferred or the ability to obtain through the operator’s exam, or reciprocity.
• OSHA 40hr. HAZWOPER with current 8hr. refresher (if applicable).
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on a regular basis.
• Working knowledge of the principles, procedures, methods, equipment, materials, and tools employed in the operation' and maintenance of the Wastewater Treatment system.
• Thorough knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions involved in water and wastewater treatment work and the ability to respond to emergency call-outs as needed.
• Knowledge of computer applications.
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply instructions, drawings and specifications for work assigned.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• A strong work ethic and team first approach are requirements for this position.
