Job summary

Meta's Reality Labs Prototyping team in Sunnyvale is seeking a computer vision intern to bring perception into the lab. You will build models to detect defects in machined and printed parts, and develop methods to match parts to CAD models.

Collaborate with manufacturing engineers, machinists and software engineers, and deploy camera monitoring for CNC machines and 3D printers to stop issues early. You’ll gain hands-on shop-floor experience while working with real parts.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in or pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in CS/EE/ME/mechatronics/robotics or related field.
• Experience in computer vision or deep learning from coursework, research or projects.
• Python programming with a deep learning framework (PyTorch) experience.
• Experience with image processing libraries such as OpenCV.
• Intent to return to a degree program after the internship.
• 3D vision experience: point clouds, depth cameras, 3D scans alignment to CAD.
• Experience deploying cameras on a network or running models in real time.
• Experience generating synthetic training data (Blender, CAD rendering).
• Experience with anomaly detection when few/no examples exist.

Responsibilities

• Build and train models that detect anomalies and defects from camera images.
• Develop methods that match images/3D scans to CAD models to identify parts.
• Prototype camera monitoring for CNC machines and 3D printers to catch errors early.
• Deploy and maintain networked camera systems and data pipelines.
• Build tools to generate and augment training data, including synthetic images.
• Measure model performance on real lab data and share results with the team.
