Job summary

Konecranes is seeking an Industrial Technician – Overhead Crane Service Technician in Beaumont, TX. The role focuses on electrical and mechanical service of electric overhead traveling cranes at customer sites, with on‑call duties and a safety‑first mindset.

The position requires a high school diploma (associate degree preferred) and at least one year of electrical troubleshooting and mechanical repair experience. A valid driver’s license and ability to lift up to 100 lbs are required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections, maintenance, and repairs on electric overhead traveling cranes and hoists at customer locations.
  • Provide on‑call service as part of a rotation, including after‑hours support.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, structural, and electronic issues on site.
  • Perform post‑repair audits to ensure safety features are functional.
  • Document findings and recommend corrective actions, including safety notifications to customers.
  • Consult with customers on repair and safety issues, offering recommendations for material handling improvement.
  • Produce electronic documentation using company tools, obtaining customer signatures.
  • Stay updated on industry codes and regulations (OSHA, ANSI, CMAA, HMI).
  • Complete service reports and other required documents accurately and promptly.
  • Communicate with the Field Operations Manager and Service Coordinator following established practices.
  • Maintain company‑issued equipment, vehicles, and assets in proper working order.
  • Operate tools, equipment, and vehicles, reporting deficiencies to the supervisor.
  • Follow established safety rules and procedures, including customer guidelines.
  • Participate in monthly safety meetings.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Service technicians are the heart of our industry, thriving in a safety‑first environment. The role involves troubleshooting 480 V 3‑phase motors, addressing crane issues, and collaborating with clients and facility directors to meet service needs across the United States.

Principal Responsibilities

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma required. Associate degree in Industrial Electrical and/or Mechanical Technology or related field preferred, or equivalent vocational/technical training and experience.

Experience: Minimum one year of experience involving electrical troubleshooting and mechanical repair. Some electronic experience is helpful but not required. Prior experience with cranes is a benefit, but not required.

Other Requirements: Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record, be willing to work off the ground, and be able to lift up to 100 lbs. Frequently climb, balance, stoop/crouch, and reach overhead. Accept occasional pushing, pulling, kneeling, and crawling. Work is 90 % indoor and 10 % outdoor. Frequently exposed to heat, cold, noise, and heights. This is a safety‑sensitive position.

What we offer

Salary: $22–48 per hour, based on skills, geographic location, internal equity, market data, years of experience, degrees, certifications, and technical assessment score.

Company Vehicle: Service technicians receive a work truck and a gas card for business use. Candidates must pass an MVR check.

Vacation: 2 weeks per year (pro‑rated on the first year). 5–12 years of service: 3 weeks. 13+ years: 4 weeks.
