Job summary

MK Consulting Group in Norfolk, VA seeks an Industrial Projects Steel Project Manager to oversee structural and miscellaneous steel projects from contract award through fabrication, delivery, and field erection.

You will coordinate internal teams such as detailing, estimating, and shop fabrication with external field erection crews, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and budget goals while maintaining strong client and contractor relationships.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of project management or estimating experience in structural steel fabrication or industrial construction.
• Ability to read complex structural and shop drawings; familiarity with AISC and ASTM.
• Proficiency with MS Office, Bluebeam, and 3D detailing software (e.g., Tekla or SDS/2).

Responsibilities

• Project Planning & Coordination: Review contracts, blueprints, and drawings; set schedules and track milestones.
• Fabrication & Shop Oversight: Coordinate with the fabrication shop to set priorities and review shop drawings.
• Financial & Cost Management: Create budgets, forecast costs, and approve change orders or invoices.
• Communication & Management: Serve as the main contact for owners, general contractors, and subcontractors; lead project meetings.
• Safety & Quality Control: Ensure compliance with industry standards and enforce job-site safety plans.
