Knowledge Services is seeking a skilled Steam Plant Operator for a 12-month contract with the State of Indiana National Guard in Knightstown, IN. Multiple shifts available and pay rate of $24.27/hour.

The role requires operating, inspecting and maintaining high pressure boilers, conducting water chemistry analysis, and providing training and supervision to staff. Safety and documentation are essential, with opportunities for extension based on performance.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; two years in general industry with boiler ops.
Three years full-time steam plant experience in a large institutional setting.
Power Engineer Certification within 12 months of employment.
Multiple government/industry licenses/certifications accepted (Navy Tech, Coast Guard, Merchant Seaman, Stationary Engineer).
Certification substitutions available as described in qualifications.
Extensive knowledge of steam plant operation, safety and emergency response.

Responsibilities

Operate and monitor steam plant shifts at the Hoosier Youth Challenge Academy.
Inspect plant areas to ensure safe, efficient operation and compliance with safety standards.
Operate, troubleshoot, and minor-repair boilers, controls, and related equipment.
Conduct water chemistry tests and adjust treatment as needed.
Document operation logs and maintenance records; train and assist junior staff.
Perform preventive maintenance and assist with major repairs and installations.
Assist in building and grounds maintenance as required and follow PPE protocols.
