Job Summary:

The Sewing Machine Operator is experienced in industrial-sized sewing machine setup and maintenance.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Place spool of thread on spindle and draw thread through guides, tensions, and needle eye.
• Insert bobbin and draw thread through shuttle or guides.
• Sew, join, gather, hem, and reinforce materials.
• Press knee lever, pedal, or hand lever to operate machine parts.
• Position parts under presser foot and lower presser foot.
• Control machine speed using pedal or knee lever.
• Guide parts under needle following edges and markings.
• Observe stitching for defects and notify supervisor if machine malfunction occurs.
• Select sewing supplies based on specifications.
• Perform finishing duties like cutting excess thread and installing vinyl graphics.
• Operate printers, cutters, assemble kits, and prepare files.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Forklift certification is an advantage.
• Familiarity with measuring tools.
• Strong manual dexterity.
• Upholstery and patternmaking skills are a plus.
• Ability to sit for extended periods.
• Basic math skills.
• Ability to accurately sort, count, and verify items.

Education and Experience:

• High School diploma or equivalent.

Physical Requirements:

Standing 20%, Walking 10%, Sitting 70%.
