Job description

We are seeking a responsible and professional Industrial services purchaser for a local industrial client. This individual will be working at the client’s site and will be responsible for various purchasing and contractual tasks as outlined below for the site’s Industrial Purchasing Department.

Candidates must be able to pass a graded background screen and pre-employment drug & alcohol screen.

Job Description: Supports Industrial services group by participating in tactical purchasing activities for assigned categories with the goal of achieving significant cost reductions, while maintaining and improving product quality, security of supply and supplier service.

Job Dimensions
  • Provides purchasing services primarily for three industrial sites
  • Creates and launches RFIs, RFQs and RFPs in support of procurement strategy and plan; documents bid events; develops selection criteria and drives the selection of suppliers in collaboration with cross-functional teams; prepares presentation for upper management prior to launch and prior to award.
  • Executes operational transactions within SAP to issue purchase documents. Proactively follows‑up with suppliers, requestors and management to ensure timely delivery of goods and/or services.
  • Ensures purchasing best‑practices are followed, ensuring compliance with Company Referential and Rules. Communicates and coaches end‑users, suppliers and management on purchasing processes and procedures.
  • Negotiates contractual agreements with suppliers to ensure that service, quality, added value, total cost, and security of supply are secured.
  • Deploys contracts throughout the organization including managing a change in suppliers.
  • Actively seeks ways to streamline business processes and improve purchasing processes; researches and provides information on industry trends and best practices. Develops alternative solutions; advises on options, risks, total cost of ownership, and business impacts.
  • Ensures that purchasing documents are auditable and filed. Tracks and analyzes performance metrics (savings calculations) to demonstrate progress against objectives.
  • Participates on specifically assigned projects relating to purchasing and provides summaries, reports, and recommendations on these subjects.
  • Interacts across different organizational levels, functions, and business units, including industrial site management and other key stakeholders.
  • Interacts with different organizational levels of suppliers.
  • Must maintain a working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations as well as internal policies to ensure the behavior exhibited by the organization is with the highest level of integrity and transparency.
Qualifications / Experience Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Finance, or other related field required.
  • Previous purchasing experience (minimum 3 years) or refining & chemicals experience (3+ years).
  • Experience in global purchasing organization is a plus.
  • Must possess good interpersonal skills with specific emphasis in communications, organization, planning, and conflict resolution. Strong analytical capabilities and negotiation/influencing skills at all levels in the organization.
  • Prior experience using SAP, e‑sourcing tools, and Excel is preferred.
