Job summary

A leading mechanical contracting firm in Virginia is seeking an experienced IR Service Team Lead to guide service operations. In this role, you will lead diagnostic efforts, perform equipment repairs, and execute preventive maintenance. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Industrial Refrigeration, including evaporative condensers and control systems, with a focus on safety and quality. This is a full-time position that requires the ability to travel and a flexible schedule.

Qualifications

• EPA-approved CFC certification and RETA I & II required.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
• Ability to work flexible schedules including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Lead diagnostic efforts on Industrial Refrigeration system issues.
• Perform and oversee equipment repairs for quality assurance.
• Execute preventive maintenance per agreements.
• Plan and schedule work with the Service Coordinator.
• Coach junior team members and maintain strong customer communication.
• Maintain strong customer and internal communications, representing ColonialWebb professionally.

What You Will Do

• Lead diagnostic efforts on Industrial Refrigeration system issues and support technicians in troubleshooting.
• Perform and oversee equipment repairs, ensuring accuracy, safety, and quality standards.
• Execute preventive maintenance in accordance with maintenance agreements while aligning with budget expectations.
• Partner with the Service Coordinator to plan, prioritize, and schedule work based on manpower needs, customer requirements, and material availability.
• Serve as a technical resource for junior team members, offering guidance, support, and coaching as needed.
• Maintain strong communication with customers and internal partners, representing ColonialWebb professionally on every job.

You must have:

• Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
• Industry experience in Industrial Refrigeration
• Expertise in evaporative condensers, large/complex control systems, ammonia/cascade/rack systems, and compressor rebuilds
• EPA‑approved CFC certification and RETA I & II
• Knowledge of IIAR/RETA standards and OSHA safety regulations
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including varying shifts, emergencies, nights/weekends, and overtime (scheduled or unscheduled)
• A team‑oriented leadership mindset rooted in safety, accountability, and high‑quality service delivery
